Did you know that 70% of the plastic made is used for an average of 12 minutes & is easily converted into waste before it remains undecomposed in the environment for thousands of years. According to a recent report by SWaCH, the problem of plastic waste in Pune, has increased again in 2021 after the improvements were mandated in 2017. And due to COVID-19, there has been an increase in online food ordering, which has generated 75% of the plastic waste in Pune. Moreover, a lot of trash still lingers in the city’s (on land and in water) like tourist spots, hills, lakes and wastelands.
This is not only harmful to the environment and the city’s beauty, but also to the animals that live on the streets and ingest tones of plastic waste as their daily food material. We see cases of cows that have ingested plastic and other toxic waste, only to suffer and die. Your donation for this initiative will go into cleaning drives that are organized.
